Our stories are part of the fabric of the United States. They deserve to be protected and shared. Your voice matters.

Why it Matters?

One year ago, USAID as many of us knew it began to unravel, marking the end of an era that shaped careers, families, and communities around the world.

Were you USAID staff, a contractor, implementing partner, beneficiary, or family member affected by the closing of USAID?

What are your memories?Looking back, what stories can you share about the most inspiring, prideful, challenging, and even humorous moments that made your experience uniquely yours? Think about the relationships formed between people and between nations. The sacrifices made. The communities built. And what are your hopes and concerns for the future of international development?

The long-term goal of this archive is to ultimately entrust the collection to a national archive, university, or comparable institution, where it may be preserved as part of the official historical record. Should the project evolve into an exhibition, publication, or documentary film, any future proceeds would be directed toward causes aligned with USAID’s mission: ending extreme poverty and strengthening resilient, democratic societies. The project is currently developed and maintained on a fully volunteer basis.

Those who wish to become involved are invited to participate in project workshops, contribute professional expertise in areas such as design or administrative support, or offer financial support to help sustain essential costs including website hosting, archival data storage, and outreach efforts.
